Piss Drunx Rolling Stone Article From ’01

8 Dec

Back in July 2001 the skate world was quite a different place. Baker skateboards was just making their mark with slow-mo “hammer” epic Baker 2G, and I was an 8th grade grom with a Mongoose skateboard. The video and this Rolling Stone article compelled me to throw out that balsa wood board and buy Jim Greco’s punk face Baker pro model.

The article goes into some detail about Jim’s drunken exploits as skateboarding’s rebel child on the edge. Highlights include the origins of Baker, the formation of the PD crew, a Knox Godoy quote, and a cringe worthy breakdown of a bs noseblunt. Fast Forward 10 years and Reynolds is still the boss, Greco (also a boss) is sober and shredding for his own companies Supra and Deathwish, and the younger generation is still carrying the torch of drug and alcohol abuse while skating on the Baker Boys squad.
